Definition: Coasteering is an adventurous sport that involves climbing up rocky cliffsides then leaping into the ocean. Coasteering is especially popular in Wales along the Pembrokeshire coast. One Wales company, TYF, runs a variety of coasteering adventures. You'll put on a wetsuit and helmet, scramble or climb up a cliff (to a height that you're comfortable with), then jump into the ocean. You can watch this video of coastering on TYF's website.
Common Misspellings: costeering, coastering
Examples:
We donned wetsuits and helmets, then scrambled over rocks and climbed partway up the cliff. After looking down at the water swirling below us, we jumped. We sank for a minute, then bobbed up and climbed onto the shore to go coasteering again.
