The Discovery Channel’s “Survival Zone” Has Valuable Advice

Adventure travelers who like to push the envelope should learn adventure travel survival and safety tips before leaving home. Being prepared will improve your chances of traveling safely and even surviving, if you get into a sticky situation when skiing or snowshoeing in the back country during the winter, exploring deserts, diving in oceans or hiking through jungles.

The Discovery Channel’s "Survival Zone" section is chock-full of solid advice about adventure travel survival and safety. Here you’ll find several pages of survival and safety information that include advice from the U.S. Army Survival Manual plus videos where specialists offer specific suggestions. Even if you aren't an adventurous traveler you may find some of these suggestions helpful because, for example, ordinary travelers visiting remote areas of popular national parks sometimes get lost.
