By , About.com Guide

These summer adventure travel trips and vacations will introduce you to new adventures and exciting locales around the world. You can watch polar bears romp in flower-filled tundra and see beluga whales on the same trip to Churchill, Canada, or you can go lodge-to-hut hiking on the Appalachian Trail in the Northeast. Would you rather tour Switzerland riding an electric bike, enter the Bog Snorkeling World Championships (no previous experience required) in Wales, or enter an amazing European race for adventurous travelers? Many of these vacations are offered multiple times during the summer.

Black Tomato has the hottest adventure travel trip of the summer: Descending into a dormant volcano in Iceland. You'll also have the opportunity to snorkel and scuba into the Silfra fissure and swim in crystal-clear water.

You'll descend into the magma chamber of the dormant Thrihnukagigur Volcano - a chamber that is higher than the Statue of Liberty - on an open elevator, so the views are astonishing. Your guide will tell you about the immense pressure and complex processes that caused this natural marvel to form over millions of years.

This trip in only available in June and July.

These trips combine the thrill of seeing and hearing beluga whales with viewing polar bears wandering through colorful fireweed-covered tundra.
