Parkour - the art of moving effectively through the environment using only the human body to overcome obstacles - is a growing activity in urban centers. All you need are the streets, fences, walls and other obstacles one finds in an urban environment. If you can picture yourself jumping over fences, running on a wall, doing a cat leap then jumping down and rolling to right yourself, these urban adventures may be for you. But, keep in the front of your mind that parkour and free running require strength, critical thinking skills and training.

Two sources to learn more about parkour and free running, where you'll also find some tutorials, videos and photos, are freeparkour.com and AmericanParkour.com. (These sources also have links to gyms in several countries where you can train in parkour for a fee.)

If you'd like to see the parkour/free running clip of James Bond chasing a bad guy over rooftops, through a burning car, then into a partially constructed building for a final fight atop a construction crane, click on Casino Royale. Also, check out the TV videos on Worldwide Jam, a global resource for parkour and free running.
