Handcrafted Wood Furniture Festival

By Lois Friedland, About.com

Clearlake Furniture at Woodstock and Ludlow, VT

If you love handcrafted furniture leave your wallet at home when attending the annual Vermont Fine Furniture & Woodworking Festival, which showcases the artistry needed to craft furniture by schooled hands and eyes, instead of machines. Dozens of companies and some of the state's most skilled craftspersons will have their work on display and for sale. Throughout the weekend, there will be demonstrations from skilled woodworkers, and live musical entertainment.

Every fall the festival is timed for prime leaf-peeping season, so consider it a good "reason" to visit Vermont. Around the time spent looking at the furniture, take one of the hikes or bike rides in the region that will take you through a covered bridge and under canopies of the red, yellow and gold leaves.

When to Go?

The 2007 Vermont Fine Furniture & Woodworking Festival is Sept. 29-30 in Woodstock, VT.

What's It Going to Cost Me?

Nothing to window shops. A lot if you decide to purchase a piece of furniture.
