The George Eccles Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum has films of the actual competitions, bobsleds, luges and memorabilia from the 2002 Olympic Winter Games that were held in Salt Lake City, around Park City and other nearby venues. The Alf Engen Ski Museum and the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame offer glimpses into the growth of skiing and snowboarding in this region.
Park City was birthed as a mining town and the first skiers-- miners--would take a mining car through the Spiro Tunnel then go up the Thaynes Shaft elevator to reach a slope and take a downhill run. The slopes they skied on are now part of Park City Mountain Resort.
The admission price for a tour of Utah Olympic Park includes entrance to the museums.
