You dont have to be a circus performer to learn how to swing through the air on the flying trapeze. Today, there are schools in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Baltimore and other major cities offering flying trapeze lessons.
Remember That Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze?
That song The Man on the Flying Trapeze written by George Leybourne in the 1930s is still popular, especially at circuses. Bet youve heard some of the words: "He'd fly through the air with the greatest of ease. That daring young man on the flying trapeze. His movements were graceful, all girls he could please. And my love he purloined away."
If you live in New York, you can see daring men and women (of all ages) learning to swing on the flying trapeze down in Hudson Battery Park, in lower Manhattan. The Trapeze School New York (which also has branches in Baltimore, Boston and Los Angeles) offers classes that usually run from late April through October. The school caters to thrill seekers, circus fans, kids and anyone else who wants to try something daring.
