ancient Pueblo Indian ruin in Mesa Verde

Spring House, on a cliffside in Mesa Verde National Park, was once home for ancestral Pueblo Indians

Mesa Verde National Park has a concentration of ruins that were built in niches in high cliffs by ancestral pueblo Indians (called the Anasazi for many years). A limited number of hikers and horseback riders were able to take the eight-mile roundtrip Spring House hike, following the footsteps of Laura Bush when she visited during the park's Centennial Anniversary in summer, 2006.
