ancient Pueblo ruin in Mesa Verde

Hikers pass this cliffside ruin of an ancient Pueblo Indian dwelling in Mesa Verde National Park.

Mesa Verde National Park has a concentration of ruins that were built in niches in high cliffs by ancestral pueblo Indians (called the Anasazi for many years). Hikers passed this one during the Spring House hike, following the footsteps of Laura Bush when she visited during the park's Centennial Anniversary in summer, 2006.
