The scenery in the Ka’a’awa Valley is so dramatic that it’s a popular spot to film movies. We watched a Sci-Fi Channel monster movie in the making for 20 minutes. (Most fascinating part was learning that the “monster” was actually much smaller than the humans in the film, but enhanced on the screen.) Among the movies with scenes filmed here are Jurassic Park, Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor and Godzilla. The TV shows filmed here include LOST and Hawaii Five-O.
