Adventure Travel With National Geographic Adventures

Trips for Active Travelers That Combine Adventures & Learning

National Geographic Adventures trip to Patagonia

Surrounded by Patagonia's high peaks, a wild guanaco surveys the scene from an alpine meadow.

National Geographic
National Geographic has created a new travel program - National Geographic Adventures - which combines adventure travel and the types of exploration for which the company is famous. The trips offer immersive cultural experiences, and let travelers experience adventure from new perspectives. Picture yourself visiting local villages and lesser known Inca sites as you trek to Machu Picchu, or paddling to a prime brown bear viewing site and hiking in an old-growth rainforest in Alaska.

To create these trips, National Geographic has partnered with Mountain Travel Sobek, an adventure travel company co-founded more than 40 years ago by the late Barry Bishop, legendary mountaineer, photographer and longtime National Geographic staff member. The active itineraries take adventure travelers to some of the world's most remote and colorful locales, including Bhutan, Chile, Argentina, Alaska, England, Mongolia, Italy and Nepal.

The Boss' Pitch: Why Travel With National Geographic Adventures

Lynn Cutter, senior vice president, Travel and Business Development, National Geographic Society says, "Adventure is an integral part of National Geographic's heritage. Many companies do adventure travel well, but we've taken a slightly different approach with National Geographic Adventures. While other trips may focus primarily on the physical adventure, our program expands upon that with the educational and immersive experiences we are so well known for. Each trip is limited to a small group of no more than 16 travelers, and was crafted by tapping into the knowledge and insights of National Geographic experts around the world to bring depth and meaning to the travel experience. It adds up to an authentic, unforgettable adventure."

Popular Adventure Travel Outings with National Geographic Adventures

These National Geographic Adventures trips, which were just announced at the beginning of 2011, include Alaska by Sea Kayak: Whales, Bears, and Ice; Bhutan: Chomo Lhari Trek; England Coast to Coast; Mongolian Horse Trek; and Tanzania: Walking Safari with the Maasai Tribe.
