How Many UNSECO World Heritage Sites Have You Visited?
Do you know there are 890 UNESCO World Heritage Sites around the globe? These special places have been chosen based on cultural or natural heritage, and because they have outstanding universal value. Sixteen new sites were added just last month.
Because Italy has 44, more than any other country, About.com's guide to Italy, Martha Bakerjian, has put together a carnival travel blog listing dozens of them. Click on her UNESCO World Heritage Sites blog and you'll find links to articles and pictures galleries of special places ranging from the Palace of Versailles in France and Yellowstone National Park to Machu Picchu, Peru and Petra, the Lost City of Stone in Jordan.
