Trip Prices to Iceland Slashed Because of the Country's Fragile Economy
Saturday October 11, 2008
The global economic crisis has a silver lining for Americans who want to explore Iceland's exotic landscape. The cost of the airfare, lodging, adventurous hiking, riding and hot springs explorations, is amazingly affordable because the US dollar has nearly twice the spending power it did in Iceland a year ago.
Icelandair has slashed roundtrip fares to $400 (formerly the cost of a one-way fare) from New York or Boston to Iceland's capital, Reykjavik.(Valid Nov. 1-March 31.) In November only, the 3-night Winter Madness package at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica is $149 per person, double occupancy, plus taxes.
