Speed Demons are Flying Down Bobsled and Luge Tracks

Thursday February 22, 2007
If you like speed, why not go bobsledding on an Olympic bobsled track or sliding down a recreational luge track. Either choice is yours this winter -- and you don't need any prior experience.

Ready to let USA Luge international medalists and coaches show you how to ride a luge downhill? Just show up at a ski resort that hosts one of the annual Verizon Luge Challenges. There's one this weekend in New York and others in the Pacific Northwest in March.

Interested in riding a bobsled downhill at 75- to 80 miles an hour -- and the ride, the 4-5 G forces against your body and the terror are over in less than one minute? You can take a ride, or even attend bobsled school at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah.

Both the bobsled rides and luge rides are available in the summer, too.
